What is MyWVUChart?

MyWVUChart offers patients personalized and secure on-line access to portions of their medical records. It enables you to securely use the Internet to help manage and receive information about your health. With MyWVUChart, you can use the Internet to:

How do I sign up?

Patients who wish to participate will be issued a MyWVUChart activation code during their clinic visit. This code will enable you to log in and create your own username and password. If you were not issued an activation code, you may call your primary care clinic to get one or ask to sign up during your next office visit.

Who do I contact if I have further questions?

If you have questions regarding your health information (labs, problem list, medications, etc.) you will need to contact your clinic or provider. If you have questions about getting copies of your medical records or need help using the Release of Information Form, you will need to contact the Health Information Department at 304-598-4109 (9am-5pm). For any other issues or username and password issues, you may e-mail us at MyWVUChart@wvuh.com, or you can call our MyWVUChart Patient Support Line at 1-866-98-CHART.

When can I see my test results in MyWVUChart?

Your test results are released to your MyWVUChart account as soon as they are Final Resulted. This generally takes 3-4 days. If you do not see a test result, please contact your provider's clinic.

Why are certain test results not shared electronically via MyWVUChart?

Your provider is able to determine which types of test results are able to be accessed through MyWVUChart. Further, tests of a very sensitive nature are not released to MyWVUChart.If you do not see your test result, please contact your clinic.

If some of my health information on MyWVUChart is not correct, what should I do?

Your MyWVUChart information comes directly from your electronic medical record at your doctor's office. Ask your doctor to correct any inaccurate information at your next clinic visit. Your health information is reviewed and updated in your electronic medical record each visit.

If I send a message to my doctor or nurse, when can I expect a reply?

You will generally receive an answer within 1-3 business days. Please note that MyWVUChart should not be used for urgent situations. Please contact your medical center if the situation requires immediate attention or dial 911 if it is an emergency.

Can I view a family member's health record in MyWVUChart?

Yes you can. This is called Proxy access and allows a parent (or guardian) to log into their personal MyWVUChart account, and then connect to information regarding their family member. Stop by the Health Information Department and complete a Proxy Consent Form to gain access to this convenient service or talk to your physician at your next visit.

Can I ask questions regarding a family member from my MyWVUChart account?

MyWVUChart offers direct access to your personal health record and communicating about another individual's information would be placed in your health record. This information would not appear in the correct health record and could potentially jeopardize medical care.

Can my spouse and I share one MyWVUChart account?

No, due to the sensitive nature of medical information, each adult must sign up for their own MyWVUChart account.

I forgot my password. What should I do?

You should click the "Forgot password" link on the sign-in page to reset your password online. If you do not get the email immediately, please check your "spam" folder or "junk" folders, just in case the message got placed there. Can you send me a new activation code as I have lost it, let it expire or did not receive it?

Contact us at MyWVUChart@wvuh.com and after we verify your information, a new code will be sent via email to the email address you have provided upon signup. Access codes are only valid for 30 days. If you have already requested one, and the new one also says it is expired, please contact the mywvuchart@wvuh.com support web page to get another access code.

Log into MyWVUChart and from the left menu, go to the Preferences section and select the appropriate option.

How is MyWVUChart secure?

We take great care to ensure your health information is kept private and secure. Access to information is controlled through secure activation codes, personal usernames, and passwords. Each person controls their password, and the account cannot be accessed without that password. Further, MyWVUChart uses the latest 128-bit SSL encryption technology with no caching to automatically encrypt your session with MyWVUChart. Unlike conventional e-mail, all MyWVUChart messaging is done while you are securely logged on to our website.

I was logged out of MyWVUChart, what happened?

We aim to protect your privacy and security of your information. While logged into MyWVUChart, if your keyboard remains idle for 15 minutes or more, you will be automatically logged out of MyWVUChart. We recommend that you log out of your MyWVUChart session if you need to leave your computer for even a short period of time.

What do I need to use MyWVUChart?

You need access to a computer connected to the Internet, you will need Java installed in order to pull up scanned results, an up-to-date browser (such as Internet Explorer) and a valid email address.

My activation code does not work, what should I do?

For your security, your access code expires after 30 days and is no longer valid after the first time you use it. You also need a valid social security number (last 4 digits), if you are getting a message that your social security number is not valid, then you will need to contact the clinic where you are seen and talk to the staff at the registration desk, they can update this information for you if its not correct in our system. If you still have problems, email us at MyWVUChart@wvuh.com or you can call our MyWVUChart Patient Support Line at 1-866-98-CHART (24278).

Is my access code my user ID?

No, your access code is not your MyWVUChart ID or password. You will use this code only once to log into MyWVUChart for the first time. (The code will expire after you have used it or after 30 days). When you log into MyWVUChart the first time, you will then be asked to create your own unique MyWVUChart ID and password.
